Assertiveness training

Conforming to others expectations, biting your lip and not being true to yourself can then bubble out into anger, resentment and other negative emotions. It can even cause feelings of anxiety and depression if left to go on for too long. Suppressing emotions and placing yourself at the bottom of the priority list will only create problems inside you. We need to feel what we feel and communicate it... even if we've never done it before.

What tends to happen is that people will go from being incredibly passive, allowing others to come before them and then flip to aggression out of frustration that they feel their wishes haven't been taken into account or that they're being taken advantage of. The truth is that the best place to be is somewhere in the middle... in being assertive.

Learning to speak your mind, with kindness but assertiveness is an incredibly necessary tool with everyone in life... from friends and family through to work colleagues and even strangers you may meet. If you could benefit from a little more assertiveness in your life then get in touch.
